How much shall I tip in Gran Canaria?
How much shall I tip in Gran Canaria?
Are you heading to Gran Canaria and would like to know what's expected of you when it comes to tipping?
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
(Free-Press-Release.com) January 30, 2012 --
Are you heading to Gran Canaria and wonder about the tipping etiquette on the holiday island? New travel guide GranCanariaTruth.com answers this and several other questions you may have about the popular Canary Island.
Service is always added to your bill in restaurants but an extra tip is often expected on Gran Canaria. In tourist restaurants the going rate is 10% but 15% is more common in high-end places.
In local restaurants, cafes and bars small change and rounding up makes a good tip and the same applies with taxis while €1 is usually more than enough for porters.
An increase in tourism means that tips are now generally expected, particularly in resorts, but do remember that apart from the restaurant service charge, it is still discretionary.
