Motivating others into change and betterment is no walk in the park. You must do a bit of research about how to motivate that type of crowd or what topic will captivate your audience more. Relate to inspirational stories and show inspirational videos and slides to your audience so they might open up to the idea of applying what they have learned unto their daily lives. Make your stories sink deep into them so that they won’t forget.

Next is to always captivate the minds and hearts of your audience. Be someone that they can’t easily forget or will always relate to when talking about something related to your discussion. You must always keep in mind that you are a motivational speaker who can change the way how a person lives for the better. Leaving a lasting impression with your listeners will be the basis on gaining more clients. They have pretty much enjoyed you speak and would like to hire you. They may hire you directly or refer you to their friends, their boss, or their company to hire you on their next training seminar or company soirée.
Always try and write your own speech. Though it is nice to hire someone to write your speeches for you but it is much more convenient when you write them yourself. When writing for yourself you already know what you have written and only take minimal amount of memorizing. When writing your speeches yourself you always speak from your heart in order to motivate and capture your target audience into inspiring themselves from what they have learned from you. You can easily insert an improv in case you slightly change your topic to focus on something else.

Lastly make a list of your personal experiences and major achievements that happened in your life and cite them as examples. Always prepare inspirational videos and slides which you can show to your audience so they may learn something valuable from it. Go with stories such as handicapped persons who beat all the odds, found a decent job and raised a family of their own despite their handicap, also rehabilitated people who beat their addictions and became a functioning member of the community.
Remember that you are a motivational speaker. Whenever speaking in front of your audience always leave whatever personal problems you have out. Your problems are not the issue, you are to inspire the crowd to be successful in any way possible. They don’t like to hear your sob story about personal problems you are having.
