Overall nutrition is very much important for the brain to function effectively. For a healthy brain, one must make sure that he takes the food that contains all the vitamins, minerals, carbohydrates and fats. One’s diet should be a rich mixture of cereals, whole wheat grains and other such essentials. Fish, fresh fruits and vegetables and red meat act as good brain booster foods. Fruits and vegetables like apricots, tomatoes, watermelon, mangos, chard, kale, broccoli and spinach act effectively on the brain to release a chemical that will help in better communication between the nerve cells thereby increasing the response time and making the brain sharp. Especially dark colored fruits have to be chosen. Also foods like salmon, tuna, sardines, mackerels and herring give the brain a boost. They are rich in Omega 3 fatty acids content which helps the neuron cell membranes to transmit the information from one membrane to the other. Cauliflower and peanuts are also essential foods as they increase the mental strength, energy and efficiency. Other important brain boosters are essential fats. Our brain is made up of about 60 percent fat content. The fuel our brains depend on is glucose. Glucose is a simple sugar. So, to give ones brain the needed energy, one has to definitely consume complex carbohydrates such as brown rice, whole-wheat pasta, wheat and rice. Lack of these carbohydrates will cause terrible health problems and may also lead to loss of memory and poor brain activity. Vitamins especially play a great role in nourishing the brain. Some vitamins also help cure certain brain diseases like Alzheimers. Hence taking in healthy food will definitely help you regain the lost memory and makes your brain sharp.
