Before you start your search for the wedding dress, you might like to carefully consider the fit, style and color.
Wedding etiquette and customs are changing. Pretty much anything and everything goes. If you want to wear a Cinderella style ball gown to the County Courthouse, I say Do It! But, if you'd like to follow with tradition, the type of ceremony usually dictates the proper style of gown. A long formal dress is suitable for a church or civil ceremony. A short dress or suit is also a nice option for a courthouse wedding. A beach wedding usually requires a more casual dress and bare feet. A garden ceremony perhaps will dictate a lighter, more gossamer fabric. If you are getting hitched at midnight on a snowy mountain top... a matching cloak and full length long johns might be in order. Also keep in mind that the back of your dress is very important, especially if your guests will be staring at it for the entire ceremony.
White became the established color for wedding gowns in the 18th century. Queen Victoria married Albert wearing a white gown, and that pretty much set the style in stone. However, these days you are no longer limited to a single color option when selecting your wedding dress. Recent trends have included gorgeous gowns in all colors of the rainbow. If you are more conservative then you'd probably be happiest with white, ivory, or pale blush pink. If you are dramatic then why not select a vibrant color you relate to. Even if you'd like an emerald green gown, chances are, you can find one on EBay. Remember to choose a color that is going to flatter your complexion. You can find out if you are a warm or a cool type by visiting a cosmetic counter. Ask the salesperson which you are, that way you can find out which colors to gravitate to. Warm colors include yellow, red, orange, yellow-green and purple. Cool colors are blue, violet, turquoise, sea green and green. Neutral colors are black, white, gray, beige and brown and look good on both warm and cool types.
Some common sense comes in handy when you've found a dress you'd like to bid on. Feel free to ask questions as the seller should be more than happy to address your concerns. Find out the exact measurements of the gown, as well as the shipping costs. Ask for the seller's return policy if it is not listed in the ad. Remember to check your EBay seller's feedback before purchasing. With a bit of diligence and a dash of courage you can find your perfect dress on EBay.
Wedding World has some great options available now, and we'd love for you to check them out. Thanks.
