Obviously being pregnant is one of the happiest moments of a woman’s life. But after having said that, if proper care and precautions are not ensured during pregnancy early signs the same could become a nightmarish experience.
If good moments are kept aside, pregnancy symptoms also bring in loads of problems for the expecting mothers. One amongst those is the problem of insomnia. Yes, expecting mothers after having seen the pregnancy early signs seem to have a torrid time as they are not able to get sleep. Insomnia is a condition of not getting sleep and feeling frustrated because of the same. According to a new study it has been found that around 78 per cent of the expecting mothers experience insomnia and that’s an alarming figure, once the sign of pregnancy has been discovered.
In the same context, let’s see some of the important yet effective tips to combat insomnia during pregnancy.
1. Stop staring at the clock- As you lay in the bed not able to get sleep and feeling frustrated, stop looking at the clock every now and then as it makes you feel irritated to no end. When ‘mothers to be’ stare at the clock and find that it is 2 AM and they are still not asleep, frustration explodes. Thus, don’t look at the clock and feel guilty. Rather take your own time to sleep and make up for the loss by rising up late in the morning.
2. Day time nap shall be a no-no- Yes, it’s our natural habit to feel a bit sleepy after lunch. But, no need to stick to the same regime and be awake in the night. Rather, eat a light lunch and enjoy a movie on the television
3. Bedtime formats to be followed- Take a hot bath, drink a cup of hot milk, listen to some light and melodious music and also read something that you don’t like. Soon, you would feel heavy and doze off in no time. Avoid working on the laptop and also stop watching TV or any another activity that stimulate/activate your brain
4. Create the atmosphere for sleeping- Yes, it’s important that you create the right atmosphere in order to hold that dream sleep. Make sure that the bedroom is cool, quiet and dark. Also see to it that the pillows and linen are placed in a proper format to support your growing belly and back
5. Keep tension out- Ensure that while sleeping you are not thinking about any issues/problems pertaining to any thing. It’s necessary to keep the mind free from any thoughts to enjoy a sound sleep
Once you have undergone following the same, it shall be easier to get back to the natural way of sleeping. Also ensure you don’t take any medication for sleep once pregnancy signs occur as it would have a bad effect on the development of the baby. Keep smoking, alcohol, coffee out of your life for 9 months and if possible for rest of the life to ensure better life and sleep, respectively. Happy Pregnancy Period!
