Mike Farrell aspenIbiz attended the Speakers in Colorado Meetup where Kevin Knebl presented how to use Social Networking to cultivate mutually beneficial relationships and grow your speaking business.
Mike Farrell with aspenIbiz Marketing Group recently attended the Speakers in Colorado Meetup hosted by Joe Sabah and Diana Hall. It was an action packed and insightful session with over 75 people in attendance at Beau Jo's Pizza near the University of Denver in Denver, Colorado.
After an opening message covering a few items, Joe introduced Kevin Knebl as the guest speaker for the event. Kevin is an international social media trainer, author, and professional speaker.
Kevin has gone from speaking around Colorado for FREE to earning $15,000 per talk, in four short years. He recently was asked by McGraw-Hill to write a book that is titled The Social Media Sales Revolution and it is becoming the leading authority on finding customers, building relationships, and closing more sales through online networking.
Kevin started his presentation by providing an overview of his background and the early stages of his career. He indicated that his wife noticed he was enjoying his speaking engagements more than his corporate job so he attended Joe Sabah's Speaking for Fun and Profit course. After that course, he was on his way to paying his dues and establishing his professionial speaking career.
Kevin highlighted that building relationships is key and that people prefer to do business with people that they Know Like and Trust. He prefers the term Social Networking which is using Social Media to cultivate mutually beneficial relationships. As such, Kevin indicated you need: a methodology to build positive relationships; a clear and compelling social media presence; and to use technology to build, maintain, and leverage relationships.
Finally, Kevin concluded his presentation by stating that the world needs better speakers so he challenged each of us to develop our compelling message and follow his approach to go from speaking for FREE to speaking for a fee.
As the session ended, Farrell thanked Kevin for his outstanding presentation and said œthe session was very informative and enlightening.
In addition to the learning more about building our professional speaking career, Farrell said that attending the Speakers in Colorado Meetup is a good way to network with other professional speakers, share experiences, and learn from each other.
