How to Make a DVD Movie in Ubuntu
It is common to feel a little overwhelmed when switching to the Ubuntu operating system. The OS itself is not all that different from the Windows or Mac systems people are familiar with, but some of the productivity software bundled with it can be drastically different. Luckily, with a little practice, you can do everything on Ubuntu you can do on Windows, often easier and with better results
Instructions
1
Go to "Applications," select the "Sound and Video" subfolder, and then select the program called "Brasero Disc Burning." Brasero is a CD/DVD writer that comes preinstalled with Ubuntu, so you won't need any other software to quickly and easily burn a DVD.
2
Select "Video Project" from the list of choices that come up when the program loads. There are a variety of options available when loading Brasero, but the one that is relevant to making a DVD movie is "Video Project."
3
Add your video files to the project. You can do this by either dragging and dropping them from a folder into the main window of the screen, or by clicking on "File" and then "Add." A status bar at the bottom of the window will become more and more full as you add files, indicating how much disc space you have left to work with.
4
Click "Burn." This will encode the video files, changing them from whatever format they are presently in to one that can be burned to a DVD and read by any standard DVD player or drive.
5
Make sure a blank disc is in the drive. When Brasero finishes encoding your files, it will then write them directly to the disc. Depending on the speed of your drive and the speed of your computer, this could take as short as 5 minutes or as long as 1 hour. A dialog box will pop up when everything is complete indicating that the project is done, at which point you can take your newly burned DVD and play it on whatever DVD player you see fit.
