Wedding dresses come in a wide range of designs, but ultimately there is one right dress for a woman. When the dress is perfect, but it has unwanted straps, you can remove the straps to change the appearance of the dress. However, you should consider a few things before removing the straps, such as the dress’s design, whether the dress will need boning added and the number of changes that already need to be made to the dress.
1

Determine if the Simple Wedding Dresses has removable straps or not. Some wedding dresses are designed with brides who might want to remove the straps in mind. These dresses’ straps come off with minimal effort, usually by sliding the strap hooks off the holes on the inside of the dress.

2
Look at the straps and the dress design. Put the dress on and tuck the straps into the dress if possible. Walk around and wait a few minutes. With some dresses, you can cut off the straps as long as the dress has enough boning to stay up without the extra support. If not, the dress will need more boning.

3
Cut off the dress straps. At this point dresses that require no extra boning are ready to wear. For dresses that require extra support, look at the dress top near the bust and determine where the seams at the top are located.

4

Place the boning on the extra fabric and wrap it up inside and pin it. Sew the fabric around the boning.

5
Look for the seams in the dress. Pin the boning to the inside of the dress seams so that the seam to add the boning will match up with the seams of the dress. Sew the boning onto the dress along the dress seams. This will hide the boning from the outside. The extra boning will help the dress stay up after removing the straps.
