Dreambox is a series of digital video broadcasting (DVB) satellite receivers that are made by the German manufacturing company Dream Multimedia. Many Dreambox models are designed for use primarily with FTA (free-to-air) satellite broadcast services. nGrab is a streaming server application developed by Dbox. The nGrab software application can be used to stream content from your Dreambox satellite receiver to your PC. The process of connecting your Dreambox to your PC via the nGrab application is fairly straightforward.

Instructions

Plug the first LAN cable into the "LAN" port in the back of the Dreambox receiver, then plug the other end of the cable into an available port on your home router/modem. Plug the second LAN cable into the "LAN" port on your PC, then plug the other end of the cable into an available port on your home router/modem.

Press the "Power" button on the Dreambox remote control, then press the "Menu" button to bring up the Main Menu screen on your television. Scroll to the "Setup" option, then the "Expert Setup" option and select the "Communication Setup" option by pressing the "Enter" button on the receiver remote.

Select the "Enable the DHCP" option, then select "Confirm" under the "Enable Network" listing. The "Connection Type" should be set for "LAN" and the "Port" should be set at "80." If these are not set, use the "Up/Down" arrow buttons on the remote to adjust to these settings.

Click the "Start" option, then "Control Panel," "Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)" and then "Properties" options. Check the "Use the following IP address" option, then enter: "192.168.xxx.yyy" for the "IP Address." Enter "BY DEFAULT , 255.255.255.0" for "Subnetmask" and check the "Use the following DNS server addresses."

Right-click on your computer desktop, then select the "New Folder" option. Name the folder: "DMBox Recordings."

Double-click the nGrab icon on your computer to launch the application, then right-click the application icon and select the "Setting" option. Under "Target Folder" select the "DMBox Recordings" folder that you created from the drop-down window and click "OK."

Enter "192.186.1.3" into the "DMBox IPAddress" entry box, then enter "4000" into the "nGrab (Streaming) Communication Port" entry box in the nGrab application window.
