HP Says No More Lap Tops Warranty Issues Leave Customers Furious

December 4, 2009

HP punted on Pavilion warranty and said it does not make lap tops any more. it makes notebooks instead. Note books should not come in contact with your skin. Buyers Complaints not hears

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
(Free-Press-Release.com) December 4, 2009 -- An HP Pavilion notebook burned a consumer's leg. The consumer from Denver, CO. sent the computer to HP for repair. After three weeks the lap top did not come back and the buyer called to find out where it was.

HP loss preventional specialist, Daniel Bulnes told the buyer it was the buyer's fault the computer burned his leg, and it was going to cost $360 to fix it. The buyer, Tim Paynter, appealed to higher authority.

Tim Metcalf at HP talked to Paynter. Metcalf explained HP does not make laptops. Hewlett Packard makes notebooks. While a note book looks like a lap top it is really not. Note books are supposed to be left on a desk. If they come into contact with your skin they are likely to burn you!

The buyers said he was flabergasted.

"Then, Metcalf told me, 'A burn to one guy is hot air to another' or words to that effect.

Loss Prevention Specialist Bulnes called back to say HP made a mistake. They had not really tested the computer before asking $360 to fix it. They were rushing it to the Houston testing center and would put it on top of the pile.

"Can you believe it? First, my pavilion is not a lap top it is a notebook, now they charged me $360 without knowing what was wrong with the computer, and 'a burn to one guy is hot air to another?" the unhappy buyer said, shaking his head.

After two months, HP decided it was the buyers fault. The loss prevention specialist said there was 'something sticking out of the keyboard.' The computer was sent back un-fixed.

The buyer asked the loss prevention specialist if he could see the pics and the specialist said 'NO'. When the computer came back the 'thing stikcing out of the keyboard turned out to be an HP label that had peeled up.

HP said it does not make laptops, it makes notebooks. They said it was the buyer's fault the computer burnt his let. They said there was no warranty on the computer because it was the buyer's fault.

"They refused to stand by the warranty on their HP pavilion laptop, or notebook, because a label had peeled up?" said the consumer.

"This is not the HP of the old days", Paynter said as he looked at his $1,400 non-working pavilion notebook.

"If you bought your computer on Black Friday, don't worry. You can still take it back. Most companys give you 14 days.

People are writing me telling me they have the same problem. Why would HP treat you differently than me? Google Daniel Bulmes and HP warranty and see for yourself." said the unhappy buyer.

And then with a wink, he said, "If you insist on going HP, then don't tell HP their note book burned your leg!"

What was the problem with the Pavilion?

"There is a software fix that keeps the unit from over heating." the buyer said. "This was an HP pavilion defect all along. But then, Bulnes knew that! What do the words 'loss prevention specialist' mean?"
