HSMAI Denver Recognizes Denver’s Top Hospitality Leaders at Annual Awards Luncheon

Five local hospitality leaders earn recognition for their contributions and accomplishments

The Denver chapter of Hospitality, Sales and Marketing Association International (HSMAI) recognized five, local hospitality leaders at their annual awards luncheon this month. Industry peers nominated each candidate and the HSMAI board selected the finalists based on their overall contributions and impact on the local hospitality market. The five winners included: Sidney M. Stoper, Director of Catering of the Year; Corey Lozano, Director of Sales of the Year; Greg Leonard, GM of the Year; Pam Friedentag, Hall of Fame of the Year and Scott Bradshaw, Supplier of the Year. The award recipients were recognized at the HSMAI holiday luncheon earlier this month held at the Loews Denver Hotel.

Sidney M Stoper, Magnolia Hotel Denver, earns ‘Director of Catering of the Year’
Nomination Quote: “He is known as the “go to” person and the expert on creating successful events. He always creates a solution for his guests. He is very talented, professional and most importantly, an enjoyable person to work for and with. Sidney is very well known throughout the entire city of Denver, nationally and particularly through his role as President of NACE. His gracious presence allows him to connect and establish relationships with his staff and guests.”

Corey Lozano, White Lodging, earns ‘Director of Sales of the Year’
Nomination Quote: “He is very active in numerous organizations, Glendale Chamber of Commerce, Visit Denver, RMBTA and by being involved in these organizations, he certainly shows great Leadership for the Marriott Hotels in the Denver area. He continues to find new ways to improve sales. He mentors entry level sales managers which help the company grow in a positive way. He is a great asset to this community and deserves to be recognized.”

Greg Leonard, Grand Hyatt Denver, earns ‘GM of the Year’

Nomination Quote: “He is General Manager of a hotel that won “Best Places to Work” by Denver Business Journal. He has been with Hyatt for 30 years and has been a GM in Charlotte, DTC and downtown Denver. He is known in the Denver Community for his involvement in such organizations as Special Olympics, for which he is a member of the board. In 2010, he was one of only three nominees for Hyatt Hotels Corporation’s GM of the year in the medium hotel category.”

Pam Friedentag, Beau Jo’s Pizza, earns ‘Hall of Fame of the Year’
Nomination Quote: “She is never too busy for anyone, always there to lend a hand, offer a gift card for any cause and train and offer advice when needed. She leads the way in our specific field and has for over 20 years. She deserves this award based on who she is and what others value about her. Her customers and clients adore her as much as we do at HSMAI.”

Scott Bradshaw, Event Rents, earns ‘Supplier of the Year’
