Hurricane Junior Golf Tour to Hold Junior Golf Tournament in Clemson, South Carolina July 25-26

Jacksonville, Florida, United States of America (Free-Press-Release.com) June 28, 2011 -- The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour (HJGT) will hold its third annual Clemson University Jr. Shootout in Clemson, South Carolina on the campus of Clemson University. The Walker Course at Clemson University is considered a staple on the HJGT and one of the best venues at which the tour visits each year. The PGA Head Golf Professional Brent Jessup and his staff have always provided the HJGT with a great tournament site each year, and the same is expected this year when the tour makes its stop in late-July.

The last time the HJGT stopped in Clemson, SC at the Walker Course at Clemson University was July 26-27, 2010 for the Clemson University Jr. Shootout. It was in this tournament that 36 holes of golf weren’t enough for three of the competitors in the Boys 16-19 Division. Brandon Jowers of Shalimar, FL, Bradley Tedstone of Simpsonville, SC and Taylor Martin of Braselton, GA all finished at +1 (145) which allowed for a memorable playoff to take place. It took four playoff holes to finally decide the champion, as Jowers posted a birdie on the hole to claim the first place hardware. In the Girls 15-19 Division, HJGT regular Libby Crawford posted a two day total +13 (75+82=157), which included an eagle in the first round, to take the top spot by five strokes over the second place finisher.

Juniors will compete over 36-holes of stroke play in one of five age divisions: Boys 15-19, Boys 13-14, Boys 10-12, Girls 14-18, or Girls 10-13. This event will be ranked by the National Junior Golf Scoreboard (NJGS), South Carolina Junior Golf Association, and Tarheel Youth Golf Association. New for 2011, any first-time player who registers for the HJGT will be able to play in his or her first event for only $99! Also, any player who registers for a College Bound Membership with the HJGT will be able to play in his or her first tournament of 2011 for just $99! And remember, any HJGT player who refers a new player to the tour will receive a 12-pack of Nike One Tour D HJGT Logo golf balls for free!

The Clemson University Golf Club is one of the most prominent golfing venues in South Carolina. The 18-hole Championship John E. Walker Sr. Golf Course was designed by DJ DeVictor and serves as the home of the Clemson Univeristy golf team. Most recently the course has been honored with the distinction of being named the “Best in the Upstate” on the “Best You Can Play in South Carolina” for 2011 by the South Carolina Golf Course Rating Panel. Arguably the last five holes, which include the signature Tiger Paw 17th hole that run along the shores of Hartwell Lake, are the most spectacular collection of finishing holes among all golf courses in South Carolina.
