Moby – has written the book Gristle, explaining how animal agriculture harms workers, the environment, our health and especially the animals.



Alicia Silverstone – a vegan who does not only resist the use of animal products, but also started an advocacy to promote veganism. She wrote the book, The Kind Life, and its accompanying blog, The Kind Life with Alicia Silverstone. She has also hosted animal-friendly events such as cruelty-free handbag auction.



Ellen de Generes – aside from being a vegan this talk show host has been busy in her advocacy for the Healthy Schools Act – a campaign to provide nutritious and meatless meals for school lunches.

Jane Lynch — she is not only famous for her Glee appearances, but also as a vegan and animal welfare advocate. She holds a campaign in spaying or neutering pets to keep their numbers manageable.



Dennis Kucinich – this vegan politician, together with his wife Elizabeth, speaks his compassion and discusses the issues involved in factory farming. In 2009, he proclaimed June 21st as Vegan Earth Day.



Emily Deschanel – this vegan TV actress is an advocate of New York Farm Snctuary shelter. She also campaigns for PETA, and a known user of vegan fashion.

Alanis Morissette – although she just turned vegan last 2008, she said there’s no coming back. She loves being vegan and she even loses weight by eating healthy vegan meals.



Pamela Anderson – this drop-dead gorgeous vegan actress is one of the well-known PETA advocates.



Lea Michelle – this Glee star is not only vegan, she is also an active advocate for animal rights. She recently held a campaign against testing on chimps.



Aside from the ones listed above, celebrity vegans also include Natalie Portman, Linda Blair, Casey Affleck, Lynda Stoner, Joaquin Phoenix, River Phoenix and Summer Phoenix. Gabrielle Miller, Ted Danson and Alyssa Milano are all vegans, too.

Musicians such as Fiona Apple, Rage Against the Machine bassist Tim Commerford, Ben Gibbard (lead singer of Death Cab for Cutie) and country singer Shania Twain are also vegans. There is also a growing number of political figures who have started the vegan lifestyle. Kerry McCarthy, Peter Tatchell, Coretta Scott King and Cathy Jamieson are all vegans, in both dietary and ethical aspects.
