At the event, prospective students and their families will pick up the new 2010-11 application for admission and information about I-Poly. Faculty, administrators and students will be available to showcase the school’s academic and extracurricular activities.

A fusion between quality private and charter school education, I-Poly High School is a tuition-free specialized public college prep high school located on the campus of Cal Poly Pomona. Run by Los Angeles County Office of Education (LACOE), which also runs the Los Angeles County High School of the Arts at Cal State L.A., I-Poly serves 500 students from over 40 cities. Students may attend without district permission or an inter district transfer.

The high school’s curriculum centers on Project-Based-Learning and students tackle projects ranging from human rights to urban planning. Early college enrollment is encouraged– over 40% of I-Poly students take college classes while in high school either at Cal Poly or local community colleges. 94% of its graduates move on to higher education (half of which will be first generation college students), and the high school averages a 99% graduation rate.

In May, I-Poly was one of 125 high schools named a 2009 California Distinguished School by the California Department of Education. Previously, I-Poly was awarded the Golden Bell by the California School Board Association in the category of “Innovation in High School”.
