The information assurance event took place at York Racecourse and featured a packed agenda, which included presentations from a range of keynote speakers. This is a key event in the CESG's calendar and is run in collaboration with SBL highlighting significant changes and briefing on updates that occur within the Information Assurance sector.
Keynote speakers at the event included Ian Levy and Chris Ensor, CESG, Liam Maxwell, Government Chief Technology Officer, Collin Williams, Business Development Director at SBL and Tony Dyhouse from ICT KTN. During the event there were also a range of vendor workshops and presentations including Info-Assure, McAfee and Dell.
Dr Ian Levy, Technical Director at CESG said of the Event: œThis year's IA Practitioners' event was the biggest and best ever as the community continues to grow. It's a great way for CESG to engage directly with practitioners who have a direct and real effect on the cyber security of the public sector and our partners
The IA Practitioners' Event is now in its third year and is seeing growth year on year. Paul Irwin, Principal Consultant at QinetiQ said that the IA Practitioners' Event is the œbest event on the events circuit by far, and has been for years. Other events can learn a lot from the IA Practitioners' Event in York, but are unlikely to ever beat it. The event is well organised, planned and delivered “ keep doing what you do.
As well as taking away a range of useful and insightful information delegates are also able to use the event as an opportunity to network with vendors and customers across a range of sectors. This year's event used social media as a way for delegates to interact with the keynote speakers. Attendees were invited to ˜tweet' questions throughout the event using a unique Twitter handle. The event organisers found this to be a success and will be looking to increase their social media usage at future events.
The 2014 IA Practitioners' Event will be held at York Racecourse once again and the organisers have stated that it will be the biggest and best event to date. To find out further information about next year's event you can contact SBL_Secretariat@softbox.co.uk.
