FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Mumbai, Maharashtra, India, Republic of (Free-Press-Release.com) February 5, 2012 -- IB Theatre
Final Wrap-Up –
Read through all of your entries from the whole year and spend some time reflecting on what you have learned this year. Please see the following explanation for how to complete this task.
IB Theatre Portfolio:
Selection
You will use your journal entries, as well as your grading forms, notes or other drama “artifacts” to study your development in the world of theater this year. To do this, begin by reading each and every page of your journals. Look for things you have

learned or interesting trends in your responses. Write a DETAILED letter to me or respond visually (with an accompanying

discussion), explaining what you think you have developed or learned this year and use some/all of your journal entries as evidence. For each piece of evidence, link the specific journal to your letter along with a note explaining how the piece shows whatever it is that you are discussing. This means you will submit a letter, all your journal entries, and mark pieces of evidence with notes to explain the evidence you are selecting. The easiest way to do this is to use colored post-it notes to mark your evidence. The Portfolio should be a clear-eyed reflection of your work during this course. It should therefore be a careful selection of work, chosen from your journal, which charts development during the course, and your growing knowledge and understanding of the subject. It should indicate milestones, turning points and crossroads which reveal the extent and direction of your journey. Significant false or backward steps can be included as well as steps forward.
In choosing your evidence, you should ask the questions “Why am I noting this?” and “How is it a reflection of my experience of theater, my discoveries in theater, and the development of my knowledge, understanding and skills?”

Internal assessment

Theatre performance and production presentation. The students have undertaken solid work in this assessment area on the whole and have created presentations that demonstrate good depth and breadth of learning experiences. There is still a tendency in some cases to emphasize acting as opposed to other theatre making areas.

The student presents effective work and substantial evidence of her ability to identify essential performance and production elements. Her ability to identify relationships between these elements, as well as understand how they work individually, is very good, and she analyses the chosen productions in a competent and detailed manner. She is less effective on the level of self-reflection, as she still focuses too much on the question of whether a show is a success or not. On occasion, some of the material and information used to back up her ideas is out of place, and she tries too hard to fit everything she has learnt into her work. For example, use of Kathakali technique in an otherwise naturalistic show may seem out of place. There is no proper conclusion that would tie together different strands of her discussion.

The student structures her presentation in a clear manner and proceeds to competently analyse different aspects of the work in performance and production that she has undertaken throughout the year. She acknowledges that the task that she has undertaken is perhaps overambitious; she does not manage to cover all of the areas that she wished. However, she does mention them and successfully relates them to those areas that she covers in detail, building good analytical and creative links. She shows that she has covered a sufficient number of different roles in performance and production and successfully relates them to one another. On the downside, she chooses to show only five images, which is less than the minimum prescribed in the guide, where it is stated that at HL the student should choose “between 7–10 images”. Those images that she does show are well chosen as a solid illustration of her work, her thinking and her learning processes. There are some examples of good reflection on work carried out by the student, as well as by her colleagues and the ensemble. Nevertheless, there is a clear sense of learning (both in class and individually) and of understanding how the information gained in class and through individual research can be incorporated in her own directorial
