Ideal Totem is open for business. “This is new, different and exciting for us. We took a creative and economic chance to develop Ideal Totem,” says Dennis Nikols, Sr. Photographer. “Dennis is talking about us helping you make your Ideal Totem.” The present inventory of 250 images will grow to over 1000 in the next few months. We believe our images are perfect for game and web site developers and designers. Images are available in two sizes of JPEG format, 300 and 900 kilobytes and 300 dpi pdf files for those with high resolution needs.
The textures and Patterns at Ideal Totem are mostly, but not exclusively, inspired by nature. They are taken from nature, as found and them presented in a format that is useful to our customers. Like many creative endeavors the amazing richness and variety of patterns and textures were not recognized by us until a chance serendipitous occurrence. Dennis was making images on frozen Lake Louise, in Banff National Park, in February of 2011.
“The sun was shining and blocks of ice stood between me and sun. Light coming through ice is always magical. It caught my eye. The day was clear, bright and very cold. I went about making my images of the ice blocks and in process realized I was looking at both macro and micro structures. The macro structure, the blocks of ice themselves and the micro structures internal and surficial (a geologists term for on the surface) textures, created patterns that refracted and internally reflected the sunlight. I stepped up close and took a few shots. It was a bit to cold that day to spend much time thinking about things. Only later, wile editing my images did I realize what I had captured on the micro scale.”
Over the next several months, on a time available basis, Dennis experimented with those micro-structures. Those experiments lead to other images, taken specifically with texture and pattern in mind. Ideal Totem is a result of those creative experiments. We are prepared to work with our clients to develop those special and unique twists so feel free to contact us.
Ideal Totem is a wholly owned subsidiary of Retread Resources Ltd. We have an older sister site As I Found It (http://asifoundit.com) that is the stock and art image service Dennis was photographing for in the narrative above. Image Totem will share our news letter the “Image Wrangler” and our technical articles, with all our sister sites. Yes more are planned to showcase specialty subjects. You are cordially invited to visit As I Found It’s galleries, blog, newsletters and related social media to see more of our work.
