(Free-Press-Release.com) September 6, 2011 --
Soldiers are issued knee and elbow pads and uniforms that provide no ballistic protection. The Ballistic Elbow Guard TM, Ballistic Knee Guard TM and Ballistic Combat Uniform TM (BCU) include Kevlar® inserts. This equipment provides significant penetration resistance to fragments produced by IEDs, rocket propelled grenades and mortar and artillery rounds. They have been provided to PEO Soldier for evaluation.
The Kevlar® knee and elbow pads are lightweight, flexible and more comfortable than other pads. They are modular and allow Soldiers to vary the ballistic protection provided. Level II pads stop a .357 Magnum round. The lighter version stops a .38 bullet. They have been worn in combat by TACARM customers since 2008.
The BCU enable Soldiers to add or remove ballistic protection based on the desired amount of coverage. Areas include the upper arms, hips, lower back, thighs and shins. Ballistic knee and elbow inserts are provided for Soldiers who do not like strap on pads. The BCU has been sold to military and law enforcement personnel since 2006.
TACARM’s latest is Ballistic Combat Glove TM. Soldiers were very impressed with it at the Soldier Equipment Expo in August 2011 at Fort Bragg. Mr. Sonner will submit the glove to PEO Soldier and the REF in the near future.
Mr. Sonner has been interviewed to appear on an Army sponsored TV series called “Staying Strong”. He has also been contacted by the Discovery Channel about appearing on a show about American inventors. In the next few months he will brief one of the largest land armies in the world on TACARM body armor.
Mr. Sonner served as an Enlisted Soldier in the Ohio National Guard, 2nd Ranger Bn and 11th Special Forces Group. As an Infantry Officer he served with the 10th Mountain, 24th Infantry Regiment and 18th Airborne Corps. His last assignment was with the 30th Heavy Separate Brigade of the North Carolina Army National Guard.
TACARM is based in Fayetteville, NC. These products can be ordered at www.tacarm.com. You can also email Matt Sonner at tacarm@aol.com with any questions or comments. Office: 910-672-0027.
