When asked why the initial interest in Jamaica although she herself hails from another Caribbean island we were given this answer “I love Jamaica I love the music the people everything about it. I hate the poverty. I hate the cost of a single loaf of bread. I hate when I’m eating in public there’s a little boy or girl watching every bite I take. I hate when a boy no older than my son knocks at my door barefoot at the hottest time of the day selling jelly and the look on his face when I tell him that I don’t eat coconut. I hate that I end up buying at least 10 of them when the person he’s with starts berating and cuffing him for not making the sale. I hate that the person took more than half of the money from him. I hate that I didn’t ask him his name or give him my number so that he could call me if he needed anything. It shouldn’t have to be that way anywhere in the world. I remember one night I was really sick and had to go to the emergency room in Spanish Town ( it was the closest) and after being “treated” and on my way back to my home I realized I had no money on me and I said to the taxi driver jokingly will you take this. I pulled out of my pocket a gold and pearl bracelet that I broke off my wrist earlier that day and he eagerly took it. I was shocked because in NYC where I live primarily cash is king and I would have been hoofing it.”
Whatever her reason I’m sure the people of the Caribbean will be happy to have OuiSource Inc. in their corner especially when anything WE want THEY got it!

About Tamiko M Byrd

Hailing from the lovely island of Antigua she is a close relation to one of the oldest West Indian families to sit in parliament the Bird’s. Her father’s father is the uncle of past Prime Minister V.C Bird. She got her love of retail from her mother who for over two decades exported goods to the islands for sale. Tamiko holds a degree in business from the private College of Westchester in White Plains NY and divides her time between her family in New York City and the Caribbean islands that she loves so much. She is fluent at least three languages one of them she jokingly quips is called “Mother”
