Tallahassee , FL. – August 18, 2010- The President of ihealthinsuranceflorida, inc, one of the well known health insurance web portals in Florida, Daniel Joe, has warned the residents of Florida to check the company they are buying their health plans from. This word of caution has come after the state insurance regulators warned that the insurance plans sold by the Association of Independent Managers (AIM) were unauthorized.
Some of these plans include AIM Health Plans, Insurance Resource Group, AIM Health Solutions, AIM Guaranteed Health Insurance, CEO Health Club Benefits, Chief Executive Officers Club and CEO Health Select.
Companies that were associated with the sale of AIM products are also under the scanners. This list comprises Serve America Assurance, Real Benefits Association, National Association of Business Leaders, Worldwide Family Benefit Association, Insurance Resource Group, Integrated Insurance Marketing, Phoenix Insurance, Star U.K. or Star Group U.K., Viking Administrators and Commerce Benefits Group Agency. These companies have been barred from doing business in the state of Florida.
The Office of Insurance Regulation estimates that there could be around 18,000 policies sold in the state. It had received complaints from about a 100 consumers involving 49 agents across the state.
Though the Florida Life and Health Guaranty Association Act protects those who have authorised plans but have become insolvent, there is no provision of funding for residents with illegal health plans.
Consumers, who believe that they have bought coverage from any of the companies mentioned above, should contact the chief financial officer’s consumer helpline 877-693-5236, or log on to www.MyFloridaCFO.com. They are also advised to close the bank account or cancel the credit card from which the premium is being paid. This will prevent any further illegal financial transaction.
