IIM Ranchi Director & Common Admission Process Head to answer queries on IIM CAP round on Feb 21

NOIDA, U.P, India, Republic of (Free-Press-Release.com) February 15, 2012 -- In 2011, the four new IIMs, IIM Ranchi, Rohtak, Raipur and Trichy joined hands to admit the students for the academic year 2011-13. After attaining success in the process, these new IIMs along with IIM Kashipur and Udaipur, the two new IIMs which started functioning 2011 onwards, will also join the process for the 2012-14 admission process.

This year, the Common Admission Process would be conducted by IIM Ranchi. The round will involve Written Ability Test (WAT) and Personal Interview (PI). Last year, when the Common Admission Process started with the four new IIMs, IIM Ranchi, Rohtak, Raipur and Trichy, the processes that involved were GD and PI. But this year onwards, the common decision was taken that GD will be replaced with WAT.

Talking about the rationale behind this change, Dr. M J Xavier, Director, IIM Ranchi, told MBAUniverse.com, “We have observed that in a GD, most of the time it is ‘might is right.’ Hence, like the older IIMs, we will be conducting essay writing instead of GD. We believe that this is a better way to judge a candidate.”

Not only the six new IIMs, but some of the old IIMs like IIM Calcutta, Lucknow and Kozhikode too will join the process. According to IIM Ranchi, Individual IIMs will prepare a shortlist based on their individual criteria. The combined list of candidates to be considered for further processing will be prepared by coordinating IIM, namely, IIM Ranchi. From the combined list, students called for interviews by IIM Calcutta, IIM Lucknow and IIM Kozhikode will be set aside. The remaining candidates will be called for a common Personal Interview & Written Analysis Test (PI & WAT).
