FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
(Free-Press-Release.com) December 3, 2010 -- Ron Schatz, principle at ImageGrille 3D Architectural Illustration in Elgin, has won his fifth Award of Excellence in as many entries, from the American Society of Architectural Illustrators (ASAI). The winning illustration was an entry for the “Project 2009: Lakefront Station” third annual Cleveland (Ohio) Design Competition. The design architects were Aleksandr Vaysman and Philip Syvertsen of the Dobbins Group in Chicago and Lake Forest, Illinois.

Schatz's illustration was among 57 winning entries chosen from a field of 300+ from around the world for the annual “Architecture in Perspective”(AIP) competition. The 2010 contest marks the 25th anniversary of the coveted award, the highest recognition in the profession of architectural illustration. The awards are presented during ASAI's annual week-long conference, this year held in Madison, WI; the 2011 Conference and awards ceremony will be held in Tokyo.

The top honor in the AIP competition is the Ferriss Award, named for architect Hugo Ferriss (1889-1962) who influenced a generation of architects and the architecture of pop culture films such as the Gotham City setting for Batman and the landscape and environs of Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow.

Schatz has won four previous ASAI Awards of Excellence, all designed by Charles G. Woods, AIA of Honesdale, PA: in 2009 for his illustration of “The Chicago;” in 2008 for the “Weekender House;” the “Ruffalo Home” in 2006; and the “New York” in 2003. Woods sent the latter to Donald Trump in 1997, who commented to Woods that he “might consider it” for future development.

Schatz has worked with dozens of architects in the Chicagoland area and throughout the U.S., including two who trained directly under Frank Lloyd Wright: Dennis Blair, AIA of Barrington and the late Don Erickson, FAIA. ImageGrille creates a wide range of 3D and digital architectural illustrations, from abstract and artistic to photorealistic, for commercial and residential clients, for new structures and remodels/retrofits. His work can be viewed online at www.imagegrille.com/Gallery.html

The American Society of Architectural Illustrators (ASAI), is a non-profit international professional organization of architectural illustrators, whose goals are to foster communication among architectural illustrators, to raise the standards of architectural illustration and to acquaint the public with the importance of such drawing as integral to the practice of architecture.
