(Free-Press-Release.com) December 23, 2009 -- AUSTIN, Texas – How often do you rely on the soundness of your thinking? How would your worldview change if someone declared you had a mental illness? After 20 years of difficulty dealing with everyday life, Kent Mickelson was diagnosed with schizoaffective disorder, a condition that causes him to question reality. However, instead of focusing on the negative aspect, he thrives in deep thought and analysis of the spiritual impact we have on each other.

In his book The Three Things (ISBN 978-0-9840598-0-5, $14.95, Creative Light Filtering Company), Mickelson explores the three most important aspects of Christianity—love, truth and grace—through the three symbols the heart, the cross and the crown. His unique view on the world helps the reader see faith in a new light with deeper understanding.

“I am convinced that God must be able to work even through our own imperfect efforts,” says Mickelson. “In the process of knowing God, you actually become a better and more complete person.”

Many people fall into the confusion over religion or they feel they are not worthy of knowing God. The Three Things explains that God lives within each one of us and one of the best ways to love him is by loving your neighbor.

“Are we called only to a personal relationship with an invisible God; or, are we instructed to relate to the Christ who is visible today in our neighbor?” asks Mickelson. “By loving our neighbor as ourselves, we actually love God.”

Kent Mickelson is the owner of Creative Light Filtering Company and a stained glass craftsman. He has worked for IBM as an engineer for 32 years. Mickelson graduated from the University of Texas at Austin in with a Bachelor of Science in electrical engineering and is a registered professional engineer. He is a member of Eta Kappa Nu and Tau Beta Pi honorary societies. Mickelson is a member of the Lutheran church and lives near Austin in Cedar Park, Texas.
