Visit almost any major city in the developed world during working hours and you will see most office workers dressed in a rather shabby standard of business attire. Many will cite lack of money preventing them from 'smartening-up' their appearance, but a few simple steps can turn a poor standard of dress into a much more stylish and professional look; and it needn't cost the earth.
We shall look at each individual piece of clothing in standard business dress and provide simple steps to improving the overall look.
1. The Shirt

Welcome visit Our WebSite:
http://www.shirt-style.co.uk When wearing a business suit the two most important measurements for a shirt are the neck size and the arm length. Both need to be correct. Many shirt makers (especially the cheaper ones) only provide shirts by neck size, leaving the majority of wearers with either too long or too short sleeves. The sleeves should reach the point where the hand turns into the wrist. If your shirt sleeves are longer, any competent alterations tailor should be able to rectify. If they are too short then unfortunately new shirts are required. If on a budget then TM Lewin are worth investigating, for about £25 you can get an average quality, but well styled shirt in varying sleeve lengths.
The collar, by the way should not bee too tight (it will be uncomfortable), nor too loose (you will take on the appearance of a clown) - Your fingers should fit comfortably between the collar and your neck.
If the body is on the 'baggy' side then consider the alterations tailor again.
2. The Tie - First off, wear one. So many go without these days; it does NOT look smart, stylish or cool. You look half undressed. The tie adds colour, style and individual flair to a suit. The silk provides a contrasting texture to the matt of the suit's wool and the shirt's cotton.
The tie should be tied in a sensible knot. I suggest a 4-in-hand, even for spread and cutaway collars. leave the Windsor knot to the footballers and night club bouncers.
Pull the knot all the way up to the neck, and fasten the top button. If you find this uncomfortable then your shirt does not fit!
If you have problems matching ties to shirts then try to wear a shirt that has a secondary colour (small pattern, stripe etc.) similar or complementary tot he primary colour in the shirt.
3. The Suit - Wear a suit that fits! This means correct width in t he shoulders, sleeve length and chest as a minimum. As long as the shoulders are correct then an alteration tailor should be able to fix the rest for a reasonable fee.
Ditch the black suit - Navy or Charcoal for business. Suit sleeve length should be just less than shirt sleeve length. If you don't have a suit that matches up then Marks & Spencer are a good source of reasonably tailored ready-to-wear suits at a good price.
For business a 2-button suit is best. The top button should be fastened. The suit trousers should reach your shoes, and possess a small 'break'. If yours are too long or too short then take them to the alterations tailor.
4. Shoes - This is an area where people often really mess things up. A nice suit with cheap, low quality shoes adds up to a mess of an outfit. Black leather (preferably classic welted styles - for reasonable quality and price try Loakes shoes) are the best. Make sure they are clean and polished!
5. A pocket square can add a great finishing touch and add a bit of class. it should complement but not match the tie.
If you follow these simple steps you (and your colleagues) will notice a great change in your outward appearance, and this is likely to increase your inner confidence.
