FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
(Free-Press-Release.com) January 29, 2010 -- AUSTIN, Texas – According to new reports by MSNBC and Thompson Reuters, an unexpected surge in home resales in October marked the highest sales level in 2.5 years. The recent real estate boom has many agents optimistic about 2010, especially with the extension of the tax credit for first-time homebuyers.

Chad Goldwasser, one of America’s leading real estate brokers and a stand-out performer in Austin, knows what it’s like to be an agent in uncertain times, and as the founder of one of the world’s premiere real estate training companies, the Goldwasser Institute, he is urging agents to empower themselves now with the tools they need to be successful when the market finally rebounds. Among those tools, most important, he says, is the art of networking.

“The bottom line in real estate sales is this: people will do business with people they know and like,” he says. “Commission discounts can be matched, marketing can be matched, pricing can be matched, but a decade-long friendship and a mutual admiration cannot. If you have mastered the art of building strong relationships, you will never have a lack of opportunities to list and sell homes.”

Goldwasser’s upcoming book, Some Assembly Required: A Networking Guide for Real Estate (New Year Publishing, March 2010, with Thom Singer), helps agents become serious about building a successful professional network, but warns them of the boom-or-bust mentality that surrounds it.

”When business is good, many agents ignore everyone around them, assuming others will naturally understand they are busy,” says Goldwasser, a popular speaker and leader in the real estate community on personal growth. “Conversely, when things slow down, those people rally and try to pick up where they left off.”

The problem with this methodology, he says, is that it fails to cultivate relationships – the lifeblood of any successful real estate agent or firm. Jumping in and out of networking produces weaker results. The book comes with an online assessment tool (www.nqquiz.com) to help readers determine their “Networking Quotient,” an index of how networking skills compare to peers, and offers a framework for making small adjustments that will bring better opportunities in real estate.

CHAD GOLDWASSER is the founder and CEO of Goldwasser International, a residential real estate firm in Austin, Texas.
