"In the Moment" Photography Show with Dr. Judith Monteferrante at Newburyport Art Association June 23-29

GLOUCESTER, MA : Acclaimed Gloucester photographer Dr. Judith Monteferrante will headline an exhibition of her latest floral, seascape and African wildlife photography at the Newburyport Art Association Hills Gallery from June 23-29, 2011. The opening reception is Friday, June 24 from 7 to 9 PM at the Association on 65 Water St., Newburyport. Entitled In the Moment, the solo show will feature dozens of photographs, each capturing the essence of memories and feelings of a moment in time.

“In the Moment is all about living and seeing like there’s no tomorrow,” says Dr. Monteferrante. “I strived to capture the feelings of exuberance and joy, mystery and grandeur, and spirituality and angst in reacting to what was in front of me. I didn’t take the photographs to document a moment, but rather to create an image that expresses the memory of that moment, so that you can sense the temperature, feel the sun on your skin, the water surrounding your feet, or the smell of Africa. I wanted to be In the Moment to allow my creative unconscious mind the opportunity to express itself.”

About Photographer Judith Monteferrante
Judith Monteferrante was a successful cardiologist for over 25 years, practicing in Westchester, NY, and specializing in heart imaging and female cardiac issues. Since her retirement, she has been focusing fully on her creative side through photography on Cape Ann. She completed a master’s degree in digital photography (MPS) in 2009 at the School of Visual Arts in NYC and now is the artistic director of the Rocky Neck Art Colony and is on the board of governors of the Copley Society of Art, Boston.

She has won numerous awards, has gallery representation in Gloucester, MA, at State of the Art and her work is in many private and corporate collections. Her main focus is fine art portraits such as floral, still life and people, African wildlife and seascapes, as well as her Creative Photography Workshops.
