Inauguration of 2nd batch of Clinical Research & Pharmacovigilance at Cliniminds Coimbatore Centre
The inauguration of the 2nd batch of students of "Advanced PG Diploma in Clinical Research & Pharmacovigilance" course was held at Cliniminds Coimbatore Centre (Academy for Clinical Research Training & Management) at Velandipalayam in Coimbatore.

The inauguration of the 2nd batch of "Advanced PG Diploma in Clinical Research & Pharmacovigilance" students was held at Cliniminds Coimbatore Centre (Academy for Clinical Research Training & Management) at Velandipalayam in Coimbatore on 11-June-2011.
Dr V Janarthanan, Managing Director, KTVR Group Hospital, welcomed the gathering. He mentioned that Cliniminds Coimbatore Centre was started as a joint venture between Cliniminds, New Delhi and KTVR Vijaydeepa Group, Coimbatore in August 2010. He remarked that within this brief 10-month period, the centre has made a huge difference in the awareness levels on Clinical Research and related fields in and around the city.
Dr J Vijay Venkatraman, Pharmacovigilance Physician & Trainer and Head - Cliniminds Tamil Nadu & Puducherry operations spoke about Cliniminds and its operations in the state as well as in the country. He enlightened the audience about the various features available in the Cliniminds Coimbatore Centre like videoconferencing, e-learning, library and faculty with industry/academic expertise. He mentioned that Cliniminds has a branch in Chennai apart from Coimbatore in the state. He also told that the Chennai centre is a prestigious tie-up that Cliniminds has with Dr Mohan's Diabetes Education Academy.
Dr J Vijay Venkatraman announced that Cliniminds was recently recognized and awarded the "Best Clinical Research Institute in India" award by Brands Academy, one of the topmost management consultancies in India. He also spoke on the various national and international accreditations that Cliniminds has to its credit such as the ones from the Pharmaceutical Society of India and the Swiss Association of Pharmaceutical Professionals. He announced that Cliniminds Coimbatore Centre will shortly start Clinical Research courses offered by Manonmaniam Sundaranar University, Tirunelveli with which it has a technical collaboration.
Cliniminds courses in Healthcare Management and Healthcare Insurance Management were also to be offered at Cliniminds Coimbatore Centre from July 2011, Dr Vijay said. He opined that these courses would be unique and different from various other management courses because the courses would have hospital internships which will result in the students getting hands-on experience in hospital operations and health insurance claims processing. The hospitals would also benefit by getting not only candidates who are trained in the processes but are formally educated in the government rules and regulations pertaining to the healthcare industry.
Dr T Sadagopan, Hon. President, Indian Medical Association - Tamil Nadu State Branch and Dr J A Jayalal, Hon. Secretary, Indian Medical Association - Tamil Nadu State Branch inaugurated the 2nd batch of students, along with the other dignitaries by lighting the lamp.
Dr T Sadagopan congratulated the efforts of KTVR Vijaydeepa Group and mentioned that interest in research has to be encouraged from the student period itself. He appreciated the work done by Cliniminds in the field of research and wished the institution and students all success. He assured the gathering that IMA would provide maximal help to any research-oriented exercise, within its constitutional limits.
Dr J A Jayalal spoke on the technological advancements and the role they have played in revolutionizing research. He called for socially conscious research and mentioned that a socially significant research was more important than anything else. He appreciated Dr Vijay's enthusiasm and assured that IMA would consider working together with Cliniminds on common courses and workshops for medical students and doctors.
Dr L P Thangavelu, Hon. Organising Chairman - 267th State Council Meeting of IMA Tamil Nadu lauded the venture and recalled his fond memories of association with KTVR Vijaydeepa Group. Dr C Anbarasu, IMA Paramedical Course Chairman, IMA Tamil Nadu appreciated Dr Vijay's interest in Pharmacovigilance while speaking.
Dr R Palanisamy, Hon. President, IMA Coimbatore and Dr V Shanmugasundaram, Hon. Secretary, IMA Coimbatore felicitated the function.
Dr Satesh Sekhar, Faculty, Cliniminds Coimbatore proposed the vote of thanks. He thanked all the dignitaries for encouraging the students. He also mentioned that Dr A Muruganathan, IMA Project Committee Chairman and Past President, IMA Tamil Nadu had sent his wishes for the programme and apologized for not being able to make it to the event due to an unforeseen emergency.
The function ended with the National Anthem after which a demo videoconferencing session was performed for the dignitaries.
