INDEPENDENT RECYCLING SERVICES (IRS) NAMED A CERTIFIED CONSTRUCTION & DEMOLITION PROCESSOR BY ARMSTRONG CEILINGS
Chicago waste and recycling company will collect discarded ceiling tiles for re-use in the manufacture of new ceiling tiles
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
(Free-Press-Release.com) April 29, 2011 --
Located at 2401 South Laflin Street in Chicago, Independent Recycling Services receives, sorts and processes a wide range of non-hazardous waste materials generated during construction and demolition projects in the greater Chicago and northwestern Indiana areas. Founded by Frank Ward Sr. in 1976, it was the first C&D processor in Chicago to sort and separate recyclable goods and is still family owned and operated today.
Armstrong World Industries, the nation’s largest manufacturer of acoustical ceiling systems, has recently named Independent Recycling Services Inc. of Chicago, an Armstrong Certified Construction & Demolition (C&D) Processor. As an Armstrong C&D Processor, Independent Recycling Services will collect ceiling tiles that have been removed from construction, renovation and demolition sites.
Independent recycling will then segregate and prepare the discarded materials for shipment to the nearest Armstrong ceilings plant where they will be used in the manufacture of new ceiling tiles. Armstrong designates new tiles made with high levels of recycled ceilings as Ceiling-2-Ceiling™ tiles. This integrative recycling process helps to significantly reduce the amount of material sent to landfills.
As an Armstrong Certified C&D Processor, Independent Recycling is now an integral part of the Armstrong Ceiling Recycling Program. The program, which is the longest running program of its kind, enables building owners to send ceilings from renovation projects to the nearest Armstrong ceiling plant as an alternative to landfill disposal.
Since it began the program in 1999, Armstrong has recycled over 100,000,000 square feet of discarded ceiling tiles. This represents more than 14,000 dumpsters full of construction waste that would have normally been taken to landfills.
