INDIE ROCK TRIO GOOD OLD WAR ENJOYS MULTI-GENERATIONAL APPEAL.

May 11, 2011

APPEARING AT THE APPEL FARM ARTS & MUSIC FESTIVAL ON SATURDAY, JUNE 4, 2011

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
(Free-Press-Release.com) May 11, 2011 -- For Philadelphia-based indie rock band, Good Old War, the crowd sing-along during their recent Coachella Festival set was a magical experience. The band’s signature sound is based on crisp three part vocal harmonies that reached a peak of popularity in the heyday of Crosby, Stills & Nash. However, it seems that Good Old War may have captured the moment as fans flock to their vocal driven sounds and those of a new generation of bands such as Mumford & Sons and Fleet Foxes.

Good Old War will take to the stage as Bank of America and Comcast present the Appel Farm Arts & Music Festival on Saturday, June 4, 2011. They will be joined by Gogol Bordello (acoustic), Josh Ritter & The Royal City Band, Ani DiFranco, Trombone Shorty & Orleans Avenue, Red Horse (featuring Festival favorites John Gorka, Lucy Kaplansky & Eliza Gilkyson), Nicole Atkins & The Black Sea, David Wax Museum, John Francis, Avi Wisnia, RUNA and performance poet, Napalm Da Bomb.

Good Old War started out playing cover songs in bars. Their sets included material from the likes of Crosby, Stills & Nash and Simon & Garfunkel and set the stage for the vocal harmonies and melodic folk-rock that is at the forefront of their music. In three short years they have recorded three albums (the third scheduled for release this summer) and clearly established their own songwriting and performing style. The band’s music spreads through constant touring and the enthusiastic word of mouth testimony of the growing fan base. New converts are keen to share their love of the band. “I flipped over the Good Old War cd's,” says Jim Albertson host of the Down Jersey folk music show on WVLT radio in South Jersey. “I have been wearing them out playing them over and over. I will give them lots of airplay.” The band is sure to win over many new fans with their Appel Farm Festival performance.

CHILDREN’S VILLAGE, CRAFT FAIR, FOOD AND MORE!

To add to the fun and enjoyment for every age, the Festival hosts a Children’s Village, with performers and arts activities to delight the young crowd. Scheduled to entertain throughout the afternoon are Tuckers’ Tales Puppet Theater, Storyteller Kristin Pedemonti and Jerry Brown, juggler, magician and comedian. There will also be free arts activities to spark creativity in the younger set. Connoisseurs and collectors of American crafts will especially enjoy the juried Crafts Fair, where over 40 artists will exhibit and sell their creations. No Festival would be complete without the superb array of food vendors who satisfy concertgoer’s taste buds with ethnic and all-American specialties. Vegetarian items are always available. Additionally, festival goers can enjoy local craft beer and wine from the Flying Fish Brewing Company and Auburn Road Vineyard and Winery. Philadelphia area patrons will enjoy the newest addition to the Appel Farm Arts & Music Festival. A luxury coach will leave from Fergie’s Pub in Center City in the morning and whisk patrons to the Festival for the all-day event. After a full day of music and fun, the bus will return to Fergie’s in the evening.
