Industry Canada Supports Ban of Quebec Domain Names

(Free-Press-Release.com) September 30, 2010 -- Ottawa, September 28, 2010 - The Canadian Internet Registration Authority (CIRA) is pleased to announce that the implementation of its domain name registration system on October 12, 2010 is on schedule.
CIRA also needs to announce that, effective immediately, it is banning the registration of new third-level (such as www.mnq.qc.ca) and fourth-level (such as www.cha.quebec.qc.ca) domain names.
CIRA feels that Canadians have evolved in the choice of their website domain names since CIRA began caring for the .ca registry in 2000.

It is recognized that CIRA had initially agreed to maintain the original domain name structure when it was assumed from the University of British Columbia. However, it is not felt that Quebecers, or other Canadians, any longer need that choice.
CIRA feels that it has the support of Industry Canada in presenting Canadian domain names in a more dignified and professional manner to the world.


Ottawa, 7 septembre 2010 – L'Autorité canadienne pour les enregistrements Internet (ACEI) est heureuse d'annoncer que la mise en œuvre de son système d'enregistrement de nom de domaine le 12 Octobre 2010 est le calendrier prévu.

L'ACEI a aussi besoin d'annoncer que, effectif immédiatement, il est interdisant l'enregistrement d'une nouvelle troisième niveau (tels que www.mnq.qc.ca) et de quatrième niveau (tels que www.cha.quebec.qc.ca) noms de domaine.
L'ACEI est d'avis que les Canadiens ont évolué dans le choix de leurs noms de domaine depuis l'ACEI a commencé à s'occuper pour le registre CA en 2000.
Il est reconnu que l'ACEI a d'abord convenu de maintenir la structure de domaine d'origine nom quand il a été supposé de l'Université de la Colombie-Britannique. Toutefois, il ne semble pas que les Québécois ou des Canadiens d'autres, plus besoin de ce choix.

ACEI estime qu'il a le soutien d'Industrie Canada pour présenter les noms de domaine au Canada d'une manière plus digne et plus professionnelle au monde.
