Hollywood of late has seen its fair share of so called “Independent” films with A-list stars and budgets that would make Bill Gates blush. But this weekend, Hollywood will be presented with a film that suits the true meaning of the word independent when actor/director Michael Worth screens his film, “God’s Ears” this weekend (August 13-15) at The Feel Good Film Festival. Worth also stars along side veterans John Saxon & Tim Thomerson as well as Margot Farley, Karen Kim, Mitzi-Kapture and Worth’s real life grandmother in her film debut.

http://www.godsears.com Like auteur John Cassavetes, Worth relied outside the studio system with a close knit group of professional friends to bring his film together about a man with autism who aspires for greater things when he meets a dancer (Farley) and the two embark on a journey together that is more similar than they realize. “I knew it would be a tough sell without ninjas or Sasquatch”, Worth recalls. “But I was at a time in my life where if I wasn’t able to pull together a project that was about something truthful to me and not just ‘a cool idea’, I was ready to pack it up and become a lumberjack”.
The film has already received its fair share of accolades (including the only film to represent the United States in last years Skip City Film Festival in Japan) and this weekend it has nods in the Best Actress, Best Actor and Best Director categories. Scheduled to attend the event are cast members including Saxon, Farley, Kim and Natasha Alam (True Blood), another one of Worth’s former co-stars. “This film is more important to me because of its ‘greater good’ rather than its technical accomplishments, or even shortcomings,’ Worth says. “Filmmaking for me is like an exorcism. For instance, I have failed love and love has failed me so many times that it gives me a platform to revisit and sometimes even banish those ghosts. Those rare moments in this career are valuable. 'God’s Ears' is one of those moments for me”.
The film screens Saturday at 12:30 in the historic Egyptian Theater in the heart of Hollywood. The festival runs August 13-15 at 6712 Hollywood Blvd., Hollywood California. Tickets available at www.browpapertickets.com. A special preview edition of the film is now available for a limited time at www.godsears.com.
