Informatica Qatar (iQ), an IT Consulting Firm and Technology Solutions Provider offering innovative and high-quality systems integration solutions, has entered into a special agreement with Safari Group and Sky Net Group, two of its major channel partners, to boost sales of devices it distributes locally for global ICT solutions provider Huawei.

Huawei, the second-largest supplier of mobile telecommunications infrastructure equipment in the world, recently signed up iQ to be the exclusive distributor and after-sales service provider of its IDEOS, IDEOS X5 and other mobiles it will introduce to the Qatari market. The reasonably-priced Android OS 2.2 (Froyo)-powered IDEOS is ideal for heavy users of multimedia, social networking sites, instant messaging and email, while the higher-end HUAWEI X5 runs on Android OS 2.2 (Froyo) with 3D user interface capability and is intended for professionals and tech enthusiasts.

Safari and Sky Net offer excellent visibility and sales platforms for Huawei’s products. Safari conducts its hypermarket business via four local outlets in Abu Hamour, Salwa Road, Umm Salal and Al Saad, while Sky Net, a mobile phone retailer with 25 outlets, has branches in Najada Souq, Industrial Area, Barwa Village, Salwa Road, and City Center.

“Safari Group and Sky Net both have strategic locations in Qatar that will enable us to strongly position the Huawei brand and ensure good local accessibility to its products. Our agreement with them reflects the strong partnerships we have which enable us to extend the reach of our services and solutions. With its high number of mobile users, Qatar is an excellent market to

introduce the world’s best mobility products to the region,” said Wisam Costandi, General Manager, Informatica Qatar.

Qatar has a vibrant mobile phone market, with penetration rates ranging in the high 90 per cent across various age groups. By Q1 2011 subscribers had already reached 2.78 million, and handset sales predicted to total QR 295 million by 2014. The upward trend is indicative of the overall growth of Qatar’s information and communications technology (ICT) sector which has helped the country gain good rankings in comparative international indices. Qatar ranks 17th out of 139 nations in the Global Competitiveness Index produced by the World Economic Forum (WEF), 30th out of 133 national economies within the Networked Readiness Index produced by the WEF in cooperation with international business school INSEAD, and in the upper third of the UN E-Government Development Index and the Ease of Doing Business Index.
Informatica Qatar (iQ) offers end-to-end ICT, Extra-Low Voltage and telecom solutions, and after-sales support via its iQ Solutions and iQ Devices business units. The company is a major partner of Huawei.
