Economic Downturn Moves Injured Athletes From Physical Therapy to Personal Training

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
(Free-Press-Release.com) February 3, 2010 -- SAN DIEGO – Feb. 1, 2010 – The economic downturn has forced many San Diegans to cut down on luxuries, like dining out and personal pampering, but not outdoor athletic activities that can be done often free-of-charge.

However, with athletic activity can come injury and with more San Diegans out of work than ever before, many athletes are playing without the safety net of medical insurance. As a result, El Cajon-based personal training company Optimum Condition has seen a spike in clients looking to regain a healthy physical condition after an injury.

"Many clients coming our way are those who have faced some sort of injury but can’t afford costly doctor’s visits or ongoing physical therapy sessions,” said Melissa Allen, owner, Optimum Condition. “We offer a corrective exercise program using the proprietary Sound Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization (SASTM) technique that acts as an extension to a physical therapy regimen. This serves as an extension to physical therapy and is much more affordable.”

Corrective exercise uses movement assessments and range-of-motion to identify under- and over-active muscles; Sound Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization (SASTM) uses specialized instrumentation to break down scar tissue that inhibits muscle & tendon elasticity. Together they form the heart of Optimum Condition’s proprietary Function Integrated Training and Therapy (F.I.T.T.) program.

“Most problems begin with an initial injury, repetitive movements, overuse, sedentary living, or improper movement techniques eventually leading to movement dysfunction, compensation, muscle imbalance and pain,” said Allen. “After completing the F.I.T.T. program clients can safely transition to a personal training program, moving the focus from repair to improving overall health and fitness level.”

Allen added that people should not start a post-operation or –injury personal training program without a doctor’s consultation.

For more information about F.I.T.T programs, the SASTM technique, personal training, nutrition and weight-loss , or corporate fitness testing, contact Optimum Condition at 619-252-4883 or visit www.optimumcondition.com.

Optimum Condition specializes in custom fitness and nutrition plans, exercise therapy, performance training, traveling to the client’s home, office, park, beach, or gym. The company is completely mobile so there are no gym membership dues to pay, saving clients money and time by taking the workout to a convenient location for the client.
