Jeddah, February 5, 2012-/ The IT market in Saudi Arabia is expected to rise to SAR 18.3 (USD 4.9) billion by 2015, driven by factors such as the emergence of intelligent solutions and advanced multichannel technologies. The Kingdom currently has the biggest IT market in the Gulf region, which was valued at around SAR 13.5 billion (USD 3.6 billion) in 2011.
The Saudi information and communications technology (ICT) sector has been achieving significant growth across almost every industry vertical over the past few years. This is due mainly to the liberalization of the ICT market, intense competition, and dynamic demographics. The country has been witnessing the rapid adoption of new technologies with huge potential in Value Added Services (VAS), online gaming, and e-commerce.
The KSA remains one of the fastest growing IT markets in the Middle East and is projected to account for up to 50 per cent of the Gulf’s total ICT investments in 2012.
