Interactive Advertising and Social Media Design Agency Embraces Progress with a Name Change

August 31, 2009

Battalion delivers unique interactive advertising and design solutions for clients including social media design and advertising.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
(Free-Press-Release.com) August 31, 2009 -- Denver, CO – After just a few months of success, a Denver ad and design agency is embracing a new name, some new clients and a new way to look at the marketing world. Challenges and successes go hand in hand for the nearly-new interactive design agency, Battalion. The Denver business community may recognize the ad agency by another name, Commotion Industries.

Initially started in February this year, Commotion Industries was formed by Denver creative stalwarts Jody Monson and Tom Van Ness along with local strategist, Tyler Browning. Mr. Van Ness, acting as Creative Director and partner for the agency says that decision to change the name came from the growth they have been experiencing since their inception, seven months ago. “About a month ago we expanded our capabilities, added some excellent new clients to our roster and moved offices to account for the growth. We came to the conclusion that based on these events we needed a fresh name that was more resounding, more memorable. After banging our heads on the wall for a name and a strategy to go with it for a month, we became very fond of Battalion. The idea behind it comes from the daily battle businesses have in the current economic climate and fragmented lines of communication to reach customers.”

Currently, advertising is in a state of flux. The business model of agencies seems to be changing as fast as technology. No longer can ad agencies study demographics for products and then push relevant messaging out to consumers. Consumers have the power to influence their peers on purchases with a sentence and the click of a button. They are free to instantly search the globe online for the precise solution they seek. Mr. Browning, handling strategy and social design for Battalion, reminds businesses that communications have fundamentally changed. “We started Battalion to help businesses start a conversation with their customers. Many businesses today do not understand the importance of listening to and having empathy with the customer. Only then can you respond to them on their terms. Firms think that if they have a FaceBook page and a Twitter account they’re competing for customers in social media. We strongly believe they must have a strategy behind their social efforts as well as a social design to support the strategy. And that’s exactly what we do.”

Jody Monson manages the design and artistic elements for Battalion’s clients. He considers design to be one of the more important pieces in social media. “By nature folks are driven to design because of the emotional experience it creates. Battalion is a one-stop shop for our clients. We start with simply great design, then execute it through every channel that works. Social media is simply the latest tool. Without great fundamentals, though, no amount of Twittering or Youtube videos will make a splash.”
