http://www.imacsweb.com Over the past months, industry events and news have focused heavily on the online presence and branding of dealerships in the digital space. This is critical as more consumers than ever are leaving more traditional media behind in favor of content that is timely, meets their needs and offers more engaging communication. IM@CS has provided targeted services for dealers and their online business for over two years and is dedicated to best practices in process, education, vendor recommendations and more.
"It is very common for the automotive retail industry to follow rather than lead in adoption of technology, utilization and education. Most dealerships are steeped in tradition which doesn't allow for a proactive approach; coupled with a slow reaction to do what the competition is doing", points out Gary May, President of IM@CS. "With exception to the few, very leading-edge operators, it has left most dealerships scrambling with how to approach their online presence, brand, cost and results. We work with dealers to find solutions that are best adopted by the staff, then supported by coaching, education and the right vendors to maximize success".
Over the past year, social media has garnered an ever-increasing mind share among the public and business alike but statistics show that a more 'push marketing' approach has been taken by companies participating in the online networks and forums. A look at the overwhelming percentage of car dealership content reveals a heavy reliance on automated posts and other less-than-social content. "When it comes to communication, you must consider it takes at least two to be effective. Now days you see a barrage of dealer posts about low priced cars, lease incentives and inventory updates. This is just like weekend newspaper ads, and that's unfortunately a one-way diatribe that most people don't care for. We talk about this everywhere we go" adds Gary, referring to individual dealer visits as well as speaking to large groups.
"We are pleased to grow our social media team to scale and stay ahead of demand", something that Gary May indicates the company has been planning for a while. "We're actually looking to grow our in-store consulting team as well in the next couple months as more dealerships are realizing they're at or past the time to act. It is always a pleasure to work with those that really desire to grow their business, using the right tools to leverage the best resource: their staff. Traditional training is great for the basics, but the web is changing so fast you must have a team that is up to speed and eager to embrace new opportunities."
