International Forgiveness & Reconciliation Week Concludes With Children's & Teens' Forgiveness Day

November 14, 2011-Trenton, NJ- This month, we conclude International Forgiveness & Reconciliation Week about parents teaching children and teens the principles of forgiveness. Someone said, “Forgiveness is giving up the right to hate those who have hurt us”. Yesterday, we celebrated forgiving ourselves so parents could receive the tools to be able to teach their children and teens. The principles of forgiveness should be taught to children and teens because the Bible clearly states in Proverbs 22:6 to "train a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not turn from it." Parents have the responsibility to teach children about forgiveness by example. Sadly, many children and teens are dealing with unforgiveness the wrong way by fighting, using drugs, killing, or committing suicide. We pray that parents will utilize the principle of forgiveness themselves so that they can become better role models and can teach children and teens.
Why is Forgiveness Important?
First, we are commanded by our heavenly Father to forgive as stated in Matthew 6:14-15 “If you forgive others, then your heavenly Father will forgive you, but if you do not forgive others, neither will your Father forgive you. When you have unforgiveness, then anger and bitterness can reside in your heart. God will not answer your prayers and this opens the door to Satan to cause havoc in your children’s and teens’ lives.

Biblical Examples on Forgiveness:
The most incredible story of forgiveness is Jesus Christ, as he was dying on the cross when he says, “Father, forgive them for they know not what to do.” Jesus Christ forgave his murderers, persecutors, and tormenters for crucifying him, but many family members are not speaking to each other because of what someone said to them. Let go and let God!
Another example of forgiveness is the story of Joseph and how he forgave his brothers for selling him into slavery. The story of Joseph can be found at Genesis 37:1-50:26.

During the one-hour “Church & Family” show on November 8, 2011, many topics were discussed by Pastor Bob and Ms. Peters and here’s a brief summary:

Many people are being deceived that they are doing the work of God, but they are doing the work of Satan.
The Christian Church has allowed division to separate them.

Many people who believe that they can continue to sin and that their prayers will be answered.
Nations can be saved, but people from all walks of life must confess & repent of their sins. Pastor Bob cited an example how he confessed & repented his thoughts of “lust” to his wife, God & to his congregation. This is scriptural.
Many people do not believe that they need God because they have become “wealthy” on their own efforts.
Women should not be pastors or elders in the church. It is scripturally incorrect.

Many false prophets are preaching on the “prosperity doctrine”, which is scripturally incorrect. They are following “tradition” rather than “biblical truths”.
Saints should take the time for themselves to read the Bible for themselves.
Fornication is a sin, which will cause people to not inherit the kingdom of God, but society has accepted it as the “norm”. Ms. Peters & Pastor Bob cited examples from their lives about how they stopped fornicating with the help of the Holy Spirit.
Children and teens are not being taught about forgiveness. Ms. Peters mentioned that Nov. 14 is Children’s & Teens’ Forgiveness Day.
