International Forgiveness & Reconciliation Week Opens With Founder’s Interview On Weekly Radio Program, “Church & Family”

Yesterday was the kick-off of the International Forgiveness & Reconciliation Week event hosted by International Spiritual Awakening Ministries. Letitia Peters, founder of International Spiritual Awakening Ministries shares an open and candid interview with Pastor Bob & Brother Tom Neary ( who was unavailable) on their weekly radio program, “Church & Family”. The subject of the show was about repentance, which falls with the theme of this week’s event. Pastor Bob quoted several biblical scriptures about repentance and forgiveness. He even quoted 2 Chronicles 7:14. 2 Chronicles 7:14 (KJV) states, "If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.” The purpose of the event is for families, relationships, Christian church, and nations to be restored. It starts with YOU. When we follow 2 Chronicles 7:14, by turning from our wicked ways, then God will do His part. It begins with YOU!
Families Are Being Destroyed

The thief comes to kill, steal, & destroy and Satan has been successful in dividing families. Ms. Peters & Pastor Bob both agreed that the families are being destroyed, which was the theme for the first day of International Forgiveness & Reconciliation Week: people should forgive their family. People should forgive them because God commanded us to do as stated “and whenever you stand praying, if you have anything against anyone, forgive him that your Father in heaven may also forgive you your trespasses. But if you do not forgive, neither will your Father in heaven forgive your trespasses.” We must forgive others in order for God to forgive us. We cannot change people only God can change them.

Ms. Peters quoted text from 2 books. She stated, “In Michael L. Galiga’s book, “Win Every Battle Conquering Fear and Claiming Victory for Success in Life” he states, “Unforgiveness opens spiritual pathways for dark, demonic spirits to wreak havoc in your life. Forgiveness is mandatory to win every battle. Forgiveness means surrendering your rights to hold anger, bitterness, unforgiveness, judgments, or offenses. It means surrendering the situation to the Living God. There is no government or nation so evil that God will not forgive and save it. If we do our part, God will do His part. The only way to get free is to forgive. When we humble ourselves, repent and turn from our wicked ways, we will win every battle.” Forgiveness brings FREEDOM. In the Dr. Ed Murphy’s book, “The Handbook of Spiritual Warfare” it states, “Those who hurt you have their own guilt, but it is guilt before God, not before you. You are not responsible for their actions. You are only responsible for your reactions to their actions. People are always held responsible for their sins, even sins provoked by the unjust actions of others. Some people have become so accustomed to their self-pity, anger, feelings of inferiority, rejection; they really don’t want to change. For many, it has become an excuse for other sins, which they do not want to abandon. When you forgive and can really pray for the salvation and transformation of those who have hurt you most, you are on the way to healing. God moves in answer to the prayers of His saints.”
Various Topics Discussed
During the one-hour “Church & Family” show, many topics were discussed by Pastor Bob and Ms. Peters and here’s a brief summary:
1. Many people are being deceived that they are doing the work of God, but they are doing the work of Satan.
2. The Christian Church has allowed division to separate them.
3. Many people who believe that they can continue to sin and that their prayers will be answered.

4. Nations can be saved, but people from all walks of life must confess & repent of their sins. Pastor Bob cited an example how he confessed & repented his thoughts of “lust” to his wife, God & to his congregation. This is scriptural.
5. Many people do not believe that they need God because they have become “wealthy” on their own efforts.
6. Women should not be pastors or elders in the church. It is scripturally incorrect.
7. Many false prophets are preaching on the “prosperity doctrine”, which is scripturally incorrect. They are following “tradition” rather than “biblical truths”.
8. Saints should take the time for themselves to read the Bible for themselves.

9. Fornication is a sin, which will cause people to not inherit the kingdom of God, but society has accepted it as the “norm”. Ms. Peters & Pastor Bob cited examples from their lives about how they stopped fornicating with the help of the Holy Spirit.
10. Children and teens are not being taught about forgiveness. Ms. Peters mentioned that Nov. 14 is Children’s & Teens’ Forgiveness Day.

International Forgiveness & Reconciliation Week Schedule:

There are 2 ways that you can forgive others: (1) by praying & releasing that person to God; a prayer of forgiveness is on the website or (2) by confronting the offender/perpetuator and ask for forgiveness as stated in Luke 17:3, “if he repents. “So watch yourselves. “If your brother sins, rebuke him, and if he repents, forgive him.”

November 9, 2011- Forgive your friends, neighbors, classmates, co-workers, enemies and/or forgive people of different ethnic & racial backgrounds

November 10, 2011- Forgive National Leaders & other Nations- promote national healing & reconciliation. In order to do this, there should be confession, repentance, & forgiveness in order for reconciliation to take place in America & in all nations. National leaders may want to investigate past & present injustices/atrocities, i.e. human rights violations or crimes against humanity, by conducting public hearings & investigations. Reconciliation cannot happen unless TRUTH is revealed.
November 11, 2011- Veteran’s Day- Veterans, are you harboring anger, bitterness, resentment, or hatred? Bless you and thank you Veterans for your courage in protecting our nation for freedom.
November 12, 2011- Forgive Church/Religious Leaders & Community Leaders- church leaders & community leaders to help communities with forgiveness, healing, reconciling broken relationships & help people to overcome their bitterness & resentment.
November 13, 2011- Forgive yourself or self-forgiveness

November 14, 2011- Children’s &Teens’ Forgiveness Day- Parents should teach them about forgiveness
