International Trade Center Gathers "The Best and The Brightest" Women in Global Trade to Share Their Wisdom

The International Trade Center, the Office of the Governor of The State of Texas and The Women’s Museum host the 2nd Annual Global Women Business Leaders Forum.

PR Log (Press Release) – Nov 30, 2009 – After a successful 2008 inaugural launch, The International Trade Center and the Office of the Governor of Texas have teamed up to present the 2nd Annual Global Women Business Leaders Forum, to be held on December 8, at the Women’s Museum. The event will promote multi-cultural understanding and sharing of knowledge between women in the North Texas region currently involved in international trade.

The program, A Wealth of Wisdom from Women Worldwide, will be a morning full of exciting topics and events that include “Solving the Rubik’s Cube Riddle Known as International Trade”; “Female Ingenuity: The Key to Managing Tough Economic Times”; “Healthier Habits, Wealthier Women” as well as a tour of the Women’s Museum. Several local women business owners will share their amazing stories of the challenges and rewards of entering the international business arena. The keynote speaker is, Texas Secretary of State, Esperanza Andrade, a well known successful businesswoman and a leader in the state.

“Our aim at the International Trade Center is to promote and assist international trade. Our goal with the Global Women Business Leaders Forum is to offer a program that inspires women, exposes them to international success stories and strengthens their connections by sharing skills and knowledge. We believe that the effective participation of women in international business will help consolidate the economic recovery and its sustainability”, said Lorraine McCord, Director of the International Trade Center.

The sponsors of the event are partners in promoting women in Texas and internationally. Governor Perry is a strong advocate for women, expressed through this Commission’s efforts to promote opportunities for Texas women through outreach, education, research and referral services. The International Trade Center (ITC) is a proud member of the North Texas Small Business Development Center Network; a joint venture between the Dallas County Community College District and the US Small Business Administration. The ITC offers free counseling and market research as well as low-cost training to companies who want to import or export. The Women’s Museum is a comprehensive national American women's history museum, in association with the Smithsonian Institution.
