Internet Scammers New Victim

(Free-Press-Release.com) January 19, 2010 -- Internet scam artists have found a new prey…nannies and babysitters. Childcare sites like FindTheBestNanny.com have found scammers posing as potential employers for nannies. Nanny placement agencies are teaming up to get the word out about such incidents to protect nannies and babysitters.

The scam starts with an email explaining that the new employer will be moving to the city where the nanny lives and would like to offer a great job. As the emails continue the new employer asks the nanny to purchase toys, clothes, bikes etc with a money order or check sent to the nanny. These money orders are fake and can be very damaging to someone’s financial situation and credit score. If this happens to you do NOT deposit the money order or check. Stop all contact immediately and report the incident to the agency.

FindTheBestNanny reminds everyone to follow some simple steps while job hunting online.
1. Do not give out any personal information. Information like Social Security Numbers, address, or contact numbers should not be given out up front.
2. Do your research. Ask any potential employers for references from either previous nannies, neighbors, employers, or friends.
3. Remember, if it sounds too good to be true than it probably is too good to be true.
