The high number of educated, accomplished Black women without partners and the reasons Black women are not chosen for marriage will be the focus of the broadcast on Saturday, November 21, 2009 at 6:00 p.m. Pacific. Racial stereotypes which negatively portray Black women as aggressive, loud and physically less attractive than women of other races, along with the high numbers of Black men that date and marry outside of their race will be openly discussed as we look at options for Black women to find love.

As marriages between African American women and white men have become more common, it is important to understand why this trend has emerged and how this marriage type differs from the more prevalent African American man, white woman marriage combination. Most research on black-white intermarriage focused on African American men who married white women.

"If a Black man dates or marries a White woman that he has genuine feelings for, then that is certainly his business. However, if a Black man deliberately seeks out White women because he believes they are automatically, due to their skin color, better than Black women, he may be carrying some real psychological baggage" says Deborrah Cooper, host of the broadcast. "Black women, tired of being alone, are increasingly dating and marrying men of other races---men that appreciate and embrace what Black women have to offer. Yet most Black women still seem to prefer to date and marry Black men. "
