Interstate Container Launches GREENCOAT® Production at New Plant in Columbia, SC

(Free-Press-Release.com) December 8, 2011 -- (Columbia, South Carolina) December 8, 2011 – As of December 1, 2011, Interstate Container Columbia in Columbia, SC, began manufacturing GREENCOAT® wax-replacement packaging. The eco-friendly GREENCOAT® wax-free corrugated boxes are specially suited for packing poultry, meat, seafood, fresh produce, floral and other refrigerated and frozen products.

Award-Winning GREENCOAT® Wax Alternative Cartons

GREENCOAT®’s moisture-resistant boxes are 100% recyclable, repulpable, and compostable. The eco-friendly corrugated boxes meet performance standards of traditional waxed boxes without the carbon footprint and save customers disposal fees. Interstate Container also produces GREENCOAT® in Cambridge, Maryland.

Interstate Container Cambridge and leading poultry processor, Mountaire Farms collaborated on recyclable wholesale transfer packaging to develop GREENCOAT® wax-replacement boxes. This sustainable packaging has streamlined Mountaire Farm’s supply chain, lowered costs, and reduced an estimated 100,000 tons of greenhouse gases for Mountaire Farms.

Last year, GREENCOAT® was recognized with the 1st Pioneer Award from Global Green USA, a non-profit organization committed to making positive changes to foster global climate improvement, at the 11th Annual Sustainable Design Awards.
