Sandy has been an important part of the charity's success over the last few years since it was founded in 2008. Her role, with the help of her daughter Kalai, in building the charities websites, and building an online community and supporters' base, has played an important part of the development of this great cause.

http://www.rewarding-fundraising-ideas.com/knit-a-square.html Knit a Square and KasCare is a charity initiative that provides blankets, clothing, toys and stationary to aids Orphans in South Africa and other parts of Southern Africa. There biggest project, which their name is based around, is the providing of blankets for Orphans, which are stitched together from knitted squares that are sent to South Africa from donors all around the world.
"The idea literally popped into our heads that we could create a new currency by asking the world's knitters to send 8" squares to South Africa to my aunt, Ronda Lowrie, who could sew them up into blankets for the children." Part of Sandy McDonald’s answer to one of the questions.
Knit A Square is currently receiving great praise about the excellent work it is doing in South Africa and was recently featured on ABC TV Australia alongside Nelson Mandela.
The interview holds some really interesting information and looks at different aspects including...
• How the Charity started.
• How it works.
• What has made it so successful.
• What role does a website play for a non-profit and how does a website help with its success.
• And what advice would Sandy give to new Non-Profit organizations.
Sandy says, "Always act when you say you are going to, to keep building trust within your community."
And also, "Look for the leaders within your growing community and invite them to join you in the cause and then give them the authority to act."
Sandy's advice is informative and beneficial to anyone running a charity organization or looking to build one. Her experience of building a successful non-profit is well worth taking use of the information she has provided from it.
