Travref.com uses Google maps to plot every UK departure point and destination served by scheduled direct air routes, as well as direct sea and international rail links. Users search by simply clicking on marked departure points or destinations, or by location name text entry.

As well as displaying all relevant routes graphically on a Google map, a side panel appears displaying all carriers that serve each route. Direct links to airline, ferry or rail operator online booking sites are provided to enable individuals to make a genuine price and flight time comparison based on all of the options available.

Each Travref.com search also provides links to the relevant country’s London embassy for visa advice, FCO destination-specific travel advice, NHS ‘Fit for Travel’ health and vaccinations advice, and the relevant airport or port websites.

Moore added that the majority of search engines are not able to indentify official information sources from others that are disguised as such but are actually sales led.
