Invisible Fence Brand Continued Support of Free Dog Training & Education Classes!

Southampton, NY - Oct. 2, 2009 - Thanks to the continued incredible support from the Invisible Fence Brand, the Dog Federation of New York is still offering the Free! Responsible Dog Ownership Classes – a dog education and training class – in both the Towns of Islip and Huntington. Implemented in March of 2008 in the Town of Islip, the class was then also offered by the Town of Huntington and has since seen over 700 participants. This class provides dog owners, new, about-to-be, and veteran dog owners alike a place where they can learn the basics in training, behavior, health and nutrition, NYS dog laws, children safety with dogs and much more – and all for free. Hosted and created by Nancy E. Hassel, a founding Member of the Dog Federation of New York and Founder of Long Island Pet Professionals, she brings in local dog trainers and veterinarians in each town to provide much needed information to class participants. “Giving back to the community, helping educate dog owners and their children, and helping decrease owner turn-in rates at our local shelters, (because of lack of dog knowledge or behavior) and offering it at no cost, thanks to our amazing sponsor, is what this program was meant to be. I am thrilled that we are still able to help dog owners and ultimately their dogs through this fun and educational class. There is a lot of learning, laughter and note taking in this class!”

Classes are held twice a month in the Town of Islip, and once a month in Town of Huntington and are for people only! The dogs stay at home so people can be taught the responsibilities of dog ownership, training and dog behavior. And as a thank you for coming each participant gets a goody bag with informational items, products and coupons for their dogs, and there are raffles in the classes as well.
