“This is a great time to become familiar with iPoly’s innovative school program– our Academic Performance Index is at its peak at 874, and we will have a new school site opening summer 2012. I welcome all guests to our Open House and encourage students to apply for the fall,” states Principal Elsa Martinez.

iPoly teaches using a Project-Based Learning model, in which hands-on projects are integrated into the curriculum. Global project themes include human rights, ecology, technology, and politics. This type of applied learning promotes collaboration, and teaches skills such as time management, interpersonal and public speaking, and conflict resolution.

“Our motto is that all students can learn in a supportive environment, and we look forward to sending future graduates off to college so that they may make a positive difference and contribute to our communities and the world,” says Martinez.

iPoly opened in 1993 and serves 500 students from over 40 cities representing Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside and San Bernardino Counties. It is run by Los Angeles County Office of Education and partners with Cal Poly Pomona.

99% of iPoly seniors graduate and 94% will move on immediately to college. The school encourages concurrent college enrollment at either Cal Poly or local community colleges, and requires students to complete 200 hours community service in order to graduate.

Students apply and test to attend, and spaces are limited. Further information may be obtained at 909-869-2260 or at www.ipolyhighschool.org.
