United States of America -- Free-Press-Release.com-- Jun 27, 2010 -- Few pictures of artist Steve McElroy can be found online. He refuses to be interviewed, preferring his painting to do his talking. But his paintings are everywhere. Hong Kong, Paris, Tokyo, London, New York and Los Angeles. His work is now in a collection or two or three in almost every major city on the planet. Some containing over 20 paintings each, and counting. Despite his growing fame as an artist, he lives simply in New York, Los Angeles and Dallas. The only sign of his prosperity being his massive body of work....all sold to collectors around the world.
Although McElroy's paintings now hang everywhere, his start as a painter was an unlikely one, and at midlife. His earliest paintings are dated 1996, when he was already in his 30's. His family and friends thought he was crazy to start from scratch with virtually no background in art. But that was over 1,000 oil paintings and 2,000 drawings ago. In that time, he has created 200 more paintings than van Gogh and over 900 more than Frida Kahlo. And no two are alike. Almost always telling a positive story or based on nature or the human experience, McElroy's paintings are labors of love using only the finest materials in the world.
Due to McElroy's attention to detail and quality of work, he was chosen for representation, but as a living artist, by the same firm which represents many of the estates of the most well-known artists of the past. Klimt, van Gogh, Dali, Rembrandt, Monet, Cezanne, McElroy? All are in the ArtMerchandising & Media AG fold. You will find Steve McElroy in the Portfolio section of www.ARTmm.com and in the slideshow of names at www.ARTmm.com/de/ next to Parfums Andy Warhol. McElroy's work may also be seen at www.SteveMcElroy.com and at www.myspace.com/SteveMcElroyArt.
After doing our homework, we spotted McElroy having coffee at a known coffee shop he frequents in New York called Snice in Chelsea. We approached him and asked if he'd talk to us a minute and he graciously, albeit firmly, said "thank you but I really don't have much of anything interesting to say" and quickly disappeared down 8th Avenue.
Maybe next time.
