IS ONE DRINK WORTH THE RISK?
PRESS RELEASE
Tuesday 1st December
Post press releases for the KCC/Kent Highway Services anti drink driving Christmas campaign.
The Christmas 2009 Kent Road Safety campaign was successfully launched in Maidstone, at Invicta House and then Fremlin Walk, on 30th November. Specially invited guests and members of the media were invited to attend a screening of the campaign video accompanied by seasonal carol singers performing the video’s jingle, The 12 Days of Christmas.
An Introduction and interviews with KCC Cabinet Member for Highways, Nick Chard and Chief Inspector Paul Sellwood were followed with a press pack providing information, samples of giveaways and business mailing encouraging corporate responsibility.
Steve Horton, Operations Manager from the Kent Highway Services, also attended the launch. He commented that “This message is vital towards promoting road safety at a time of year when drinking and driving is at its peak. The campaign clearly points out ways around the unnecessary risk of driving after even one drink.”
A digivan displaying the campaign’s video was also on display outside Invicta House and followed the launch to its position on the busy Fremlin Walk accompanied by the carol singers. Members of the media all made good use of the opportunity to film, record and interview all the key promoters involved in the campaign.
A Bluetooth connection from the digivan furthered the message “Is One Drink Worth IT?” that the campaign is centred around. This enabled 800 messages to be sent out, over 200 of which were downloaded within the first two hours. Promojectors were also used on surfaces around Maidstone to continue exposure to the anti drink driving message.
This campaign will continue throughout the build up to Christmas, the digivan and carol singers will next be seen in Ashford High Street and Canterbury Whitefriars on Friday 4th December.
Nick Chard commented that “The simplicity of this message is key; one drink really is too many. This is something we take very seriously at KCC and I am pleased to have such a strong campaign to highlight the dangers and consequences of drink driving in the Christmas season”.
The campaign launch was able to highlight the facts and risks associated with driving after even one drink this Christmas season.
Drink driving the facts:
