Goldstein is also the founder and director of the Children’s Rights Institute (CRI), a not-for-profit organization whose mission is to track and legally combat violations of children's basic human rights as occurring throughout the globe. CRI has a special focus on state-sponsored indoctrination and recruitment of children as suicide-homicide bombers, child soldiers and human shields.

The practice of lawfare (which is defined as the use of the law as a weapon of war) has censored the free speech rights of authors, researchers, journalists, and cartoonists.

Lawfare lawsuits are filed against people that speak publicly about Islamist terrorism, with the goal of silencing and punishing them. Goldstein describes lawfare as predatory, frivolous, and undertaken as a means to intimidate, demoralize and bankrupt defendants.

Goldstein’s book, Lawfare: The War Against Free Speech, serves as a First Amendment guide in the current age of Islamist Lawfare, which uses violent and non-violent means, and false campaigns that vilify and stereotype Americans concerned about militant Islam as “Islamophobic.”

Goldstein’s book is hailed as the first of its kind for offering practical tips to journalists when writing about these topics.
