Island Beach Club had installed an off-the-shelf wireless network in earlier years; however, the WiFi-coverage was so poor that the guests complained about not getting internet access, getting internet access only in their bedrooms and getting low throughput. The resort comprises five heavy concrete 5-story buildings, made up of condos, pool, an elegant beach area and a fully equipped club house. Island Beach Club issued an RFQ for a carrier class Wi-Fi network. The mandatory specifications included the system’s capabilities to satisfy the guest’s demand for high internet throughput, Voice over IP (VoIP), Wireless Multimedia (WME) applications and video surveillance; furthermore scalability for upcoming technologies, carrier class reliability and endurance, whether, salt, heat and wind resistance to keep their guests, condo owners, and staff members satisfied for years. Last but not least the system should nicely integrate into the architecture of the hospitality site without cabling access points through the buildings.

Solution

Entech Computer Systems first made an active physical site survey by using base stations from different vendors to assure that the very farthest corners of all buildings and floors would be perfectly covered despite of all building and area obstructions from trees to elevator walls. Next approach of Entech Computer Systems was to find a system which assures a Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) as low as possible. Finally, Entech Computer Services searched for a carrier class robust Mobile Broadband Wireless Access and integrated true Mesh system.
